(Modern)Formations

The project was realized during a month-long residency at Black and White Projects (San Francisco, CA) in 2016.

(Modern)Formations attempts to examine and extract the absurd beauty of being part of a world that is filtered through the screen. Capturing various individuals interacting with their personal smartphones, the project intends to explore the relationship of materiality (of devices), physicality (of actions) and virtuality (of the mind “wandering” and “drifting” into an altered virtual state). Through digital renditions and simulations of organic patterns and rhythms, the videos strive to create a zen-like ambience lulling the the viewers to zone-out.
