Blackbox Monodramas (2011)

I refer to these camera specific performances as 'monodramas' in a 'black box.' I situate myself in a confined space with a limited amount of objects. As if the volleyball, 'Wilson,' in the film 'Cast Away (2000),' encourages Tom Hanks to have a illusionary self-reflective conversation, the camcorder and the objects transform into my conversational partners. Camera angles and framings have a language of its own and the relationship I build with those objects is another. I am currently exploring how simple gestures can activate and change the meaning of how an object is viewed.
